Not the geek you think I am...

[ Warning, rant to follow! ] I just finished reading “Wired's Geekster Handbook, a Field Guide to the Nerd Underground” and as with most of the so called geek content produced by the mass media, it was highly disappointing and a bit insulting. It’s the same everywhere media lives, on television, in film, online and in print. Geek culture memes and colloquialisms methodically sprinkled throughout popular media, the entertainment and publication industry’s attempt to force feed us content through a tightly weaved marketing filter.

Unfortunately, these weak attempts have lacked the proper quality, depth and sincerity that we as geeks, the most savvy of their consumers require in our entertainment.
